Ultrasound Day

We of course didn't find out that we were having a BOY at our 20 week ultrasound, but we had the technician write it down on a card I made and took that right away to the bakery without looking! Neither of us were tempted to peek because we were so excited about cutting the cake and finding out at the party!  

We also told the technician to tell us to look away from the ultrasound screen while she was looking for the gender. I know I would have recognized if it was another girl. 

It was such a special morning for our family; the girls loved seeing baby on the screen. Avery asked if the ultrasound was putting peanut butter on my tummy, such a funny moment! 

 I decided to wear blue to our appointment since I was planning on wearing pink for the reveal party.

Excited to see baby and excited about their suckers!

What is baby? 

Most of all, beyond all the excitement about finding out baby's gender, we are so thankful for a healthy baby!

Immediately after the appointment we took the envelope to the bakery and anxiously awaited the big reveal!

21 weeks!

Baby BOY is still the size of a banana!

It's BLUE!

 It's true...we're going to have a baby BOY, a SON! We can still hardly believe it, but we are beyond thrilled and thankful!

Latest Project!

After almost a year of searching, I finally found
 this precious treasure of a dresser on Craigslist! I found it back in November and it took me months to finally get on the ball and paint it!

I bought it for $50 and that included delivery! It was rough, but I knew it had a great potential. When Gabe first placed his eyes on this beauty he said "you bought that?". I remember telling him to just trust me! Thankfully he did.

 

After taking off all the hardware and giving it a real good wipe down we were left with this...

After two coats of primer, it was ready for paint. I decided to use an oil-based primer that didn't require me to sand it. I hate sanding (actually haven't done much of it and don't have an electric sander) so I avoided sanding at all costs.  I used this primer...

The finished product! 

  I'm very happy with how it turned out. I decided to leave the doors off because although it's in our entry/hall, it's also in our playroom. So, I wanted this dresser to be very functional. It now stores all puzzles, flashcards, etc. I love that I won't be worried about the girls slamming the doors!

 Just a few additional details. I ended up using the original hardware for the drawers, I simply spray painted them. After two coats of paint (used Behr, Surfer), I applied two coats of a clear, protective gloss.  I used Minwax Water-Based Polycrylic Protective Finish in “Clear Gloss”. I bought all of the black bins at Target.

Baby is now the size of a mango, 6 inches and .5 pounds.  

We find out on FRIDAY what baby is! So excited!

18 Weeks!

Baby is the size of a sweet potato! 

Can't wait to find out the gender of baby in less than 2 weeks!
