A Colorado Springs Vacation!

For our Anniversary week, we decided it would be fun to do a family vacation right here in the Springs. We live in this beautiful place, but haven't had the opportunity to do some of the many tourist activities it provides, so we thought we would try to explore around our own city for a few days! We had a whole list of fun activities in mind, such as the Olympic Training Center, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Seven Falls, etc. We didn't get to all of them, but we plan to do most of them by the end of this summer. Unfortunately, this week's weather wasn't the best, but we had a great time being together as a family!

My mom recently had double knee replacement surgery here in the Springs, so in between vacation activities, we tried to see her as much as we could. Avery was such a trooper going in and out of the hospital and rehab hospital. We also took my mom home at the end of this week, so we made a trip up to Greeley as well. It was a busy week, but we were thankful to be there for my mom. She is well on her way to recovery! She will be cycling again before we know it!

Enjoy our pictures from our vacation week!

To finish off a crazy busy week, we had a family bowling night for the Children's Department Leadership team. Gabe bowled and had a great time while Avery and I just hung out.

We went to the exact place where Gabe proposed to me! We reminisced about the amazing day that Gabe asked me to marry him! I'm so thankful he did!

Gabe's parents blessed us with a gift certificate to the Broadmoor hotel for our anniversary, which is where Gabe proposed to me. We ate dinner at the Tavern, the meal was amazing and then we walked around the lake and enjoyed the beautiful evening with just the two of us. Avery spent a few hours at the Zachman's. It was hard for me to be away from her, but it was nice for me and Gabe to has some time together to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary!

Avery got to see her biker Pop Pop. He came through the Springs with four of his biker friends. They were headed out for a 4 day motorcycle trip. We all got to watch the Thunderbird Show since it was the Air Force graduation. It was a beautiful day and the show was amazing!

Avery was so tired from a long day!! She is so cuddly!

After the OTC, we went to see my mom in her rehab hospital! This is the first time Gabe has worn the Baby Bijorn, Avery was pretty content for awhile. My mom wanted Avery to show off some of her beautiful flowers she received from a friend.

This is Gabe's new favorite picture of me, in wrestling stance. I'm ready to take this guy on!

It looks like we are in the Caribbean! The atmosphere was nice!

Avery and Daddy hanging out after dinner! Looks like she got him pretty good with drool! :)

Check out that baked potato!! Yikes! :)

We had an interesting dinner experience this week. A few weeks back, Gabe got to participate in a Pastor's golf tournament here in the Springs. His team won so we were blessed with a few different gift certificates. So we decided to use one for dinner. I will not use the restuarant name, just out of respect, but it was probably the nastiest ( is that a word?) dinner we have ever had. We were so excited to go out to eat, by the sound of the name of the restuarant, we thought it was going to be a very nice dinner! Thankfully the atmosphere was pretty nice, but the food was so bad I just had to take a picture of my plate. You tell me...does that even look like salmon?I won't even mention Gabe's steak! Oh man, Gabe and I just cracked up when we got in the car. It was a fun experience. We can't complain too much, thankfully it was free! This picture is of me pretending I like my food! I do want to say that our waitress was very sweet and she was working so hard! So, we did appreciate her kind spirit!

We started out our vacation week with a family run on the Sante Fe trail! We are both trying to get back in shape!
