Gabe did a 360!
We went with the Zachman's to Lake Pueblo this past weekend. It was such a beautiful day to begin with, but it ended up being quite the experience. Gabe knee boarded which he mastered immediately and I spent my time sunbathing and hanging out on the boat. We couldn't have asked for a better day of beautiful weather, but when the weather turned, it quickly turned bad! All of a sudden, as Gabe was out on the raft with little Maddie and Morgan, the water turned ferocious. It was no longer tame and perfect. The three of them were still out on the raft, but at that point John could not stop the boat because the waves were so large. That was scary, I wanted them back on the boat! Finally, a brief opportunity came where we could stop the boat. Jessica pulled them in by the rope as fast as she could, I was so proud of her! As soon as they all jumped in, John yelled" I gotta go, I gotta go". I wave was headed directly towards us and we had to start moving before it went over the boat. So, this is when it got interesting. John sent the two little girls up to the front of the boat because he needed some weight up there. At first he sent Jessica up there too, but almost immediately after, John yelled "Jessica, I NEED YOU IN THE MIDDLE!". Wow...I knew his voice was serious and somewhat worried. Jessico came sliding down the middle aisle and at that point, I lost it! Considering I already have a underlying fear of water, this experience did not help to conquer that. I'm sitting in the middle, hovering in the corner, trying to keep their 1 year old Mckensie in my arms. Surprisingly, she slept through this whole experience. Let's just say, Jessica had to comfort both me and Morgan ( she is 6). I was laughing and crying at one point. It was so scary and it lasted for about 10 minutes. John finally spotted a calm cove and we were safe! Wow...what an experience. It is one we can laugh about now, but I was terrified! All of us were praying for the Lord to get us out of those terrifying waters! Praise God for the cove!! It taught me that even in the midst of a storm, God's hand is always on us. It made me think of the disciples, when they were in the raging storm, they woke Jesus up saying "Lord, save us! We're going to drown". Jesus simply replied "You of little faith, why are you so afraid" and immediately calmed the storm! Amazing! Why do we fear? We are always in God's hands, I need to remember that the next time I go boating. The Zachman's promised, in the future, we will stop boating when we see a storm coming. Later, we found out that a Tornado touched down not far from Pueblo, which is why the weather changed so quickly and dramatically.
