Latest Project!

After almost a year of searching, I finally found
this precious treasure of a dresser on Craigslist! I found it back in November and it took me months to finally get on the ball and paint it!

I bought it for $50 and that included delivery! It was rough, but I knew it had a great potential. When Gabe first placed his eyes on this beauty he said "you bought that?". I remember telling him to just trust me! Thankfully he did.

After taking off all the hardware and giving it a real good wipe down we were left with this...

After two coats of primer, it was ready for paint. I decided to use an oil-based primer that didn't require me to sand it. I hate sanding (actually haven't done much of it and don't have an electric sander) so I avoided sanding at all costs.  I used this primer...

 And...

The finished product!

I'm very happy with how it turned out. I decided to leave the doors off because although it's in our entry/hall, it's also in our playroom. So, I wanted this dresser to be very functional. It now stores all puzzles, flashcards, etc. I love that I won't be worried about the girls slamming the doors!

 Before/After photos...
Just a few additional details. I ended up using the original hardware for the drawers, I simply spray painted them. After two coats of paint (used Behr, Surfer), I applied two coats of a clear, protective gloss.  I used Minwax Water-Based Polycrylic Protective Finish in “Clear Gloss”. I bought all of the black bins at Target.

Love it! And I love that you kept the doors of and put the baskets in - baskets make for easy clean up:) You just inspired me to get started on a dresser that I found on the curb over a year ago...yikes!

Great job Ashley! Now do you want to come help me with the hutch that has been sitting in my garage for almost a year? :) I bought paint that is almost that same color, a little darker. I think you've inspired me to get started.
